Inflatable Seat Belts For Rear Seat Occupants In Mercedes Benz
Word-class German car maker Mercedes Benz is now all set to announce the inflatable seat belts soon for the rear seat passenger. It won’t be wrong if I say that Mercedes Benz is following the steps of American Car Maker Ford as they recently brought up their inflated seat belt lately last year in its model Ford Explorer 2011.
However Mercedes Benz also launched its Beltbag for its model ESF2009 which was named as the experimental safety vehicle by the company. As per the statement given by company professionals the new inflatable seat belts will come with the luxury class models of Mercedes, though the model names are not yet disclosed by the company.
The beltbag, inflatable seat belts is to be worn just like the simple car seat belt but it will be inflated by a gas generator. There are special crash sensors which detect the frontal impact when vehicle gets crashed.
When this sensor detects the vehicle crash, the Velcro seams of the inflated seat belt opens and the belt expands with gas and becomes almost thrice its normal width.
This expanded and inflated seat belt provides a larger surface area covering the rib cage of passenger brilliantly.
German car maker Mercedes tested these new inflatable seat belts with virtual human models as the crash test dummies aren’t so assembled to determine the lower strain caused by the sudden collision of the vehicle.
The buckle used in this inflatable seat belts are also brilliantly designed especially for the luxury class models of Mercedes to be launched soon. The best part is that these inflatable seat belts will be used only on rear seats as the front seats already have the airbags for the protection of front seat occupants.
